This is such a neat technique! I took the Medallion background stamp and inked it with Bashful Blue Ink. Then with my choice of either a wheel (see the card above) or a flower stamp (see card sample below) stamped onto the Medallion background stamp then stamped onto the Whisper White Card stock.

Fabric Postcard!

April 20, 2011

This card definitely looks better in real life, but I find that happens with most things made of fabric. This was going to be an Artisan Award entry, but I came up with an even better fabric postcard so this one I mailed off to my grandmother for her birthday!

My neighbour showed me her beautiful fabric postcards she had received and I just knew I had to make some! The card measures 4"x6". If you keep the card to the proper thickness for Canada Post you can add a regular stamp to it and mail it away sans envelope like a postcard!
Start with a piece of vanilla fabric stamped with the truck image from Countryside in Black Stazon ink. I had to put a lot of ink onto the stamp and then leave the stamp on the fabric for a few minutes to get the best image on the fabric.

Next I cut strips of the Springtime Vintage Fabric and sewed them in log cabin style around the truck/vanilla piece. It's very important to iron the seams open to lessen the bulk. Use a 4"x6" piece of the Big Shot Fabric Adhesive to iron together the front piece (truck with blue fabric) to the 4"x6" stabilizer (centre piece) and then another piece of the fabric adhesive to iron a 4"x6" piece of vanilla fabric to the backside of the postcard. Also cut a thin piece of the fabric adhesive to iron on a 4" piece of Victoria Crochet Lace to the front.

Finish the edges of the postcard with a zigzag stitch with a sewing machine. On the back of the postcard I stamped POSTCARD with the Winter Post stamp set, drew a line down the centre with a Sharpie marker and wrote a little note on the left side. Make sure to address your card on the right side, attach the postage stamp and send it away!

These taken a lot of time to make but they are so cool!

Supplies
Stamps: Countryside, Winter Post
Ink: Black Stazon
Paper: none
Accessories: Springtime Vintage Designer Fabric, Vanilla Fabric (not SU), Big Shot Fabric Adhesive Roll, sewing machine and thread, stabilizer for middle of postcard, Victoria Crochet Trim, Iron, rotary cutter and ruler

p.s. I took the picture on the back bumper of my truck! hehe

Spring!

April 15, 2011 in ,

I love spring, especially the daffodils! My mom's birthday was last week and it was a good excuse to make a card for the April Creative Crew Challenge over on Splitcoaststampers. The challenge is to use punches and my card really needed a flower. Since I had a vase of daffodils on my desk I knew one had to pop onto this card! I used the 5 Petal Punch for the main part of the daffodil. Then cut a 3/4" strip of Daffodil Delight card stock and pleated it. A few leaves from the 2 Step Bird Punch finished off the daffodil.

Supplies
Stamps: Strength and Hope (from the upcoming Summer Mini Catalogue), Teeny Tiny Wishes
Ink: Soft Suede, Crumb Cake, Basic Black
Paper: Soft Suede, Crumb Cake, Daffodil Delight, Vellum, Very Vanilla, Old Olive
Accessories: 5 Petal Punch, 2 Step Bird Punch, Word Window Punch, Scallop Edge Punch

Just For You!

March 23, 2011 in
When I first made this card before Christmas I thought it would be a great entry to Stampin' Up!'s Artisan Award, but I've made a few other cards I like even more so this one got chopped from the list. Every year Stampin' Up! accepts entries for the Artisan Award and then selects 10 demonstrators from all those entries. I thought about entering last year, but time slipped away from me. So far I'm a little behind, everything needs to be into Salt Lake City, Utah by April 22, 2011! I thought I would be done 3 weeks ago! So as of this morning I have 2 scrapbook pages, 5 cards, 2 3D items down. 1 scrapbook page left to do! Wish me luck!

Supplies
Stamps: Friends Never Fade, Medallion background, Teeny Tiny Wishes
Ink: Basic Black, Real Red, Stampin' Write Markers: Baja Breeze, Pear Pizzazz, Real Red
Paper: Real Red, Baja Breeze, Whisper White, Greenhouse Gala designer paper
Accessories: Real Red grosgrain ribbon, Basic Rhinestones, sticky strip, glue dots, stampin' dimensionals

Happy First Day of Spring! Around here we definitely need this bright Daffodil Delight card to make our day brighter! We have snow once again, boo! I know I need to thank someone for this design, but at this moment I am unable to figure out who, but thank you none the less!

The designer paper was stamped with Daffodil Delight ink with the edge stamp from Vintage Vogue. And the Daffodil and Basic Grey flowers were stamped as well. I'm loving the Fun Flowers die for the Big Shot. I am trying really hard to not put flowers onto everything!
Supplies
Stamps: Vintage Vogue,
Ink: Basic Grey, Daffodil Delight
Paper: Basic Grey, Daffodil Delight, First Edition designer series paper, Very Vanilla
Accessories: Large oval punch, Daffodil Delight designer button, Big Shot, Fun Flowers Bigz die

Wow March is almost over and that means Sale-A-Bration is almost over! Have you place your order yet to earn some free product?

These cards are from last month's card stamp camp. Before all the ladies arrived I had no idea how this card was going to turn out! I just threw some paper, ink and two stamp sets on the table and let them have at it.

Stamps: Thanks for Caring
Ink: Baja Breeze, Crumb Cake
Paper: Baja Breeze, Crumb Cake, Very Vanilla
Accessories: Very Vanilla 5/8" satin ribbon, stampin' dimensionals, Scallop Trim Corner punch, Early Espresso 1-1/4" grosgrain ribbon, Big Shot, Vintage Wallpaper Impression folder, Top Note die

Whoa, the time sure flies by when I'm creating! The biggest problem is the number of items that I have started and what time is left to get them all done! Yikes. But that means there will be more really cool things to share with you soon.
Today's card is one we made during February's stamp camp. We used the Big Shot for each card! On the base of the card is a second layer of Old Olive that has been put through the Big Shot with the Polka Dot folder. I really like the effect it give the card instead of putting the whole card front through the Big Shot.

Supplies
Stamps: Create a Cupcake
Ink: Pacific Point, Old Olive
Paper: Old Olive, Rich Razzelberry textured card stock, Pacific Point textured card stock, Whisper White, Real Red
Accessories: Word Window punch, Decorative Label punch, 2-3/4" circle punch, Build a Cupcake punch, stampin' dimensionals, Big Shot, Perfect Polka Dot Impression folder

New Old Truck

February 23, 2011 in ,

The above card was one I designed for my Stamp Camp this past Saturday. I thought it had turned out alright but some of the ladies just did not agree! I love how they make each design their own! It is so great to see what others come up with using the same materials. And they get inspiration from each other too! That is what is so cool about being a demonstrator, showing others how to be creative and seeing their reactions when others like what they did too! Do you like being creative? Become a demonstrator today during Sale-A-Bration - hop over here for all the information.

Below is another card made Saturday by my mom.

Supplies
Stamps: Crountryside, Teeny Tiny Wishes, Plane and Simple
Ink: Stazon, Not Quite Navy, Assorted Stampin' Write markers
Paper: Watercolour paper, Cherry Cobbler, So Saffron, Not Quite Navy
Accessories: Watercolour wonder crayons, blender pens, Aqua painters, Old Olive grosgrain ribbon, Whisper White Taffeta ribbon, Big Shot, Polka Dot Impressions folder, Square Lattice die folder

~ Amanda
My mother bought the Have a Seat stamp set and then asked me for inspiration! This set was kinda hard to get an idea for. As usual I searched the Internet for inspiration, checked out what other Demonstrators had posted on Stampin' Connection and then hid in my stamp room for awhile trying out different colours and layouts. And this is what I came up with. There are 3 other chair images in this set that did not get inked yet so I might have to revisit this one again.

Supplies
Stamps: Have a Seat, Teeny Tiny Wishes
Ink: Versamark
Paper: Early Espresso, Very Vanilla, Green House Gala designer series paper
Accessories: Word window punch, Basic Black embossing powder, Early Espresso 1/8" taffeta ribbon, pearls, Big Shot, Vintage Wallpaper Impressions folder

2 Owls!

February 17, 2011 in , ,
Aren't these owls adorable? At my last workshop a few weeks ago a friend of mine spotted this card in the 2010-2011 Idea Book and Catalogue on page 200 and decided it would be the perfect card for her daughter's bridal shower invitation! Yesterday after our workshop order arrived I just had to make a copy for her to see. I'm so loving these owls, still not sure how I've held out this long without owing that punch yet! I really hope this was what she was looking for.

Supplies
Stamps: Wedding Sweet
Ink: Early Espresso
Paper: Early Espresso, Old Olive, Peach Parfait, Pink Pirouette, Very Vanilla, In Color Designer Series paper (hostess)
Accessories: 2-step Owl punch, 2-step Bird punch, Heart to Heart punch, Scallop punch, Old Olive Taffeta ribbon

Isn't this tin adorable? I decorated it up late last night and filled it with candy for my husband for Valentine's Day. Because I also gave him this Sweet Valentine card I decided to carry the design over to the tin!

Supplies

Ink: Basic Black
Paper: Basic Black, Very Vanilla, First Edition designer series paper
Accessories: Real Red designer button, linen thread, Real Red satin ribbon, medium oval punch, glue dot, stampin' dimensionals, Big Shot, Hearts and Brackets Die, heart shaped tin

I hope you all had a great Valentine's Day!

Stampin' Up! has compiled a great new resource - a My Digital Studio Catalogue PDF. It includes all of the MDS software artwork (contained in the original product) AND visuals of all the downloads from the October 2009 launch through January 2011. Because MDS is regularly coming out with new artwork, the catalog will be updated every month and available to you on MyDigitalStudio.net in the Resources Section.  You can use the catalog as a resource to manage the downloads you have and which ones you still want to purchase.

I whipped up this card in less than 10 minutes this morning before work. Started with a template card, change the background paper, added a strip of Soft Suede down the left side with the Early Espresso scalloped border and added in the scalloped oval punch. Voila! Note to self: I need to use My Digital Studio more often because it is quick and easy to use!

Supplies (All Digital supplies)
Stamps: For All You Do
Ink: Baja Breeze, Old Olive, Crumb Cake, Early Espresso
Paper: Soft Suede, Very Vanilla, Crumb Cake, Early Espresso, Elegant Soiree Designer Series Paper
Accessories: Silver brad, scallop oval punch, scallop edge punch

~ Amanda
I love my Big Shot! The only stamping on this card is the word sweet on the Riding Hood Red heart. I used the Sweet Treats stamp from Teeny Tiny Wishes - only highlighting the word sweet with my black ink pad. The big heart is from the Hearts and Bracket dies. The little hearts are the Heart to Heart punch. And of course Valentine's Day card wouldn't be complete without a diamond!
Supplies
Stamps: Teeny Tiny Wishes
Ink: Basic Black
Paper: Riding Hood Red, Basic Black, First Edition Designer Series Paper
Accessories: Rhinestones, Basic Black satin ribbon, stampin' dimensionals, Heart to Heart Punch, Big Shot, sticky strip, Hearts and Brackets Bigz die, Vintage Wallpaper Impressions Folder

Can you see the shimmer on the rose? I stamped the rose in Real Red onto watercolour paper then went over the whole image with a foam brush and some Frost White Shimmer Paint. The shimmer paint picked up some of the red and coloured the rose in for me! So cool! The centre of the rose was partially coloured in with a Real Red stampin' write marker then brushed over again to let it sparkle too.

Here is a close up of the Wallpaper Impressions folder on the First Edition Designer Series Paper and the shimmer of the rose.

Supplies
Stamps:  Fifth Avenue Floral, Curly Cute
Ink: Real Red, Pink Pirouette
Paper: Real Red, Pink Pirouette, Pear Pizzazz, First Edition Designer Series Paper, watercolour paper
Accessories: Very Vanilla satin ribbon, pearls, stampin' dimensionals, Frost White Shimmer Paint, foam brush, Big Shot, Hearts and Brackets die, Little Leaves Sizzlit

It's snowy outside! Wow the schools are closed and the place I work for is actually closed! I work with my family and we're never closed. But today my grandparent's thought it was too dangerous to go to work so home we all stay!

Now I have not made it to my studio yet today but I wanted to share a card I made a few weeks ago for a friend's birthday. For this card I started with a piece of Woodland Walk designer series paper and decided to go for a monochromatic look. The strip of Garden Green was first stamped with the Woodgrain background stamp, then the pine tree from Lovely As A Tree was embossed with gold.

Supplies
Stamps: Lovely As a Tree, Short and Sweet, Woodgrain background
Ink: Garden Green, Versamark
Paper: Garden Green, Wild Wasabi, Crumb Cake, Woodland Walk designer series paper
Accessories: Very Vanilla seam binding, decorative label punch, gold embossing powder, sticky strip

Father's Plane

January 29, 2011 in ,
This card would be perfect for my dad for Father's Day except I showed it to him already! Growing up my dad took flying lessons and achieved his pilots license! I remember going flying with him a few times, watching the little houses and seeing my little corner of country from way up high!

Inspiration came from Splitcoaststampers January Creative Crew Challenge. The challenge was to use new items from the Occasions Mini catalogue. Plane and Simple was the perfect place to start! The compass is embossed in black and I cut the Night of Navy grosgrain ribbon in half, then pulled a few strings off to get that frayed edge. The dashes and triangle border had Bashful Blue then Not Quite Navy ink put onto the stamp before stamping.

Supplies
Stamps: Plane and Simple
Ink: Night of Navy, Not Quite Navy, Bashful Blue, Versamark
Paper: Night of Navy, Very Vanilla, First Edition Designer Series Paper
Accessories: Night of Navy 1-1/4" grosgrain ribbon, sticky strip, stampin' dimensionals, word window punch, Black embossing powder

Bright Flowers

January 27, 2011 in ,
I have always been challenged using bright colours! When Stampin' Up! announced the Colour Renovation back in July 2010 I really thought it would be easier for me to create cards using just the Brights Collection. Boy was I wrong.

For the above card I started with a Real Red base and added a Whisper White top note stamped with 2 flowers from the Fifth Avenue Floral stamp set. Lay a piece of Daffodil Delight 1-1/4" grosgrain ribbon across the card, then a strip of Whisper White on top and drop a few pearls on. Voila!

Supplies
Stamps: Fifth Avenue Floral, Curly Cute
Ink: Real Red, Daffodil Delight
Paper: Real Red, Whisper White
Accessories: Daffodil Delight 1-1/4" grosgrain ribbon, sticky strip, pearls

I'm absolutely loving the First Edition designer series paper! Wait, don't I say that every time I post a card using this paper? Oh man...

Anyways onto the card. The music notes, encyclopedia paper, flowers and pearls all tie together to make this card look vintage. The pearls are so easy to use, they come with glue on them so all you need to do is peel and stick! Easy peesy! To get the music notes straight, here's a tip: use a handle (yup I finally bought one, you can see why in this post) and also the wheel guide helps too.

Check back tomorrow for details on Sale-A-Bration (SAB), it starts tomorrow! Your chance to earn more free stamps and accessories! Sweet!
