Friends in Saffron

July 14, 2010 in ,
What a difference the Vintage Wallpaper textured impressions folders has on the base of this card! Originally I had stamped on the card base with So Saffron ink with another image from Just Believe (I just flipped the card over so the back of this card has the stamped images on it! he he) but the stamped image was not dramatic enough! So it was sandwiched through the Big Shot and voila!

The purple image with flowers was trial and error as well. First I tried Perfect Plum, but that purple was not dark enough for the card and it also had two So Saffron brads in the centres of the flowers. Then it was stamped in Concord Crush without brads, it still did not look right. Lastly I coloured the stamp with Stampin' Write markers to get the best look.

Supplies
Stamps: Just Believe
Ink: Soft Suede, Concord Crush
Paper: Soft Suede, So Saffron, Very Vanilla
Accessories: Concord Crush, Old Olive and So Saffron stampin' write markers, Very Vanilla 5/8" Satin Ribbon, sticky strip, 5/16" Very Vanilla Jumbo brads, mat pack, piercing tool, Big Shot, Vintage Wallpaper textured impressions folder, Top Note Die

Just Believe!

July 11, 2010 in ,
This new stamp set arrived at work on Friday! Just in time for me to whip up this card for today's workshop! I came up with the colour combo while sorting through retired ribbon. Usually I would not put Tempting Turquoise together with Old Olive and Early Espresso, but it jumped right out at me! The card layout is based on a card I made last July: Thinking of Chocolate.

Supplies
Stamps: Just Believe
Paper: Old Olive, Early Espresso, Very Vanilla
Ink: Early Espresso
Accessories: Tempting Turquoise, Daffodil Delight, Old Olive, Early Espresso markers, Tempting Turquoise grosgrain ribbon, Soft Suede grosgrain ribbon, silver brads, stampin' dimensionals, sticky strip

Designer series paper can make a card very easy to create and it is double sided! You could also use a piece of Whisper White cardstock with the Friends Never Fade stamp set to create a faux designer paper of you own in whatever colours you choose.

Baja Breeze, a previous In Colour from 2007, is one of my ultimate favourite colours. What is your favourite colour in the new collections?

Supplies
Stamps: Sincere Salutations
Ink: Early Espresso
Paper: Baja Breeze, Pear Pizazz, Greenhouse Gala designer series paper
Accessories: Old Olive grosgrain ribbon, Baja Breeze ribbon (retired), designer buttons, glue dots, stampin' dimensionals, wide oval punch, scallop board punch, sticky strip

Came across a very cool technique on the weekend over on Splitcoaststampers. This card is for the WICKED challenge for Demonstrators. I haven't participated in this challenge before, and I have 2 other parts for this months challenge to try too! Guess you can say I've been lurking for long enough, time to break out of my comfort zone and do some challenges!

To create the tin roof ceiling technique I started with Sahara Sand paper and heat embossed silver powder all over it and then punched out the circles. Then theses circles were run through the Big Shot with the new Vintage Wallpaper Impression folder then heated each circle with the heat tool to get the silver embossing nice and shiny!

I hope to see you on Sunday to celebrate the release of Stampin' Up!'s new 2010-2011 Idea Book and Catalogue! Are you in the Kingston, Ontario area and wish to attend? Please contact me by email to reserve your spot.

Supplies
Stamps: Friends Never Fade
Ink: Cherry Cobbler, Versamark
Paper: Very Vanilla, Soft Suede, Sahara Sand
Accessories: Very Vanilla 5/8" satin ribbon, stampin' dimensionals, Silver embossing powder, glue dot, Big Shot, Vintage Wallpaper Impression folder, Top Note Die

Birthday for me!

June 16, 2010 in
Wanted to share a few cards I received for my birthday last week. The first card is very special to me because it is the first card my husband has ever made for me!!!!!! I am so proud of him. Not bad for his first card ever, without instructions too! It was a complete surprise waiting on the kitchen table for me when I arrived home from work.

The second card is from my secret sister from Australia. Love the glitter! Lots of fun to receive good snail mail!

When I scrapbook I try to get as many 4x6 photos onto one or two pages as I can. I am a firm believer in letting the photos speak for themselves (maybe that is why I forget to journal!). For this trip I wanted to show where in Saskatchewan, Canada we were and also what the campground looked like. I used an official road map that came with all the travel info from the prairie province and scanned it to my computer. Then slightly modified it and printed it onto Very Vanilla card stock. The same was done with the campground map. I am still thinking about adding a brad to our campsite number and also onto the Provincial map so that others can tell where we were.

Supplies
Stamps: Pattern Pines (retired)
Ink: Handsome Hunter, Old Olive
Paper: Crumb Cake (or Kraft), Handsome Hunter, Very Vanilla
Accessories: Old Olive grosgrain ribbon, sticky strip, Big Shot with Timeless Type Alphabet

New Look!

June 10, 2010
How cool is this? Been debating for a long while what to do with this blog to make it look better. If I had My Digital Studio I might have created my own blog background, but tonight as I made my way to the Blogger Dashboard there is a new tool to modify the template! Oh the choices! So if you see a few changes and weird things going on the next while, just know that I am having fun with a new tool! And let me know what you think.

My plan tonight had been to create a project with new sneak peek items from the 2010-2011 Idea Book and Catalogue but stupid me, I left the UPS box under my desk at work! The horror!! And since my husband is at work there is no vehicle here for me to go rescue it! I just about cried, all that beautiful paper and ink just waiting to be used! Sigh, tomorrow...

Going all BLUE!

June 07, 2010 in ,
Can across this card on Stampin' Pretty and it was a perfect fit for last months card class! I so love to case (copy and share everything). We used a variety of stamp sets to create our images and the Big Shot of course. I love pulling it out for card classes! It is so much fun to see other people use it.

Supplies
Stamps: Circle Circus, Flight of the Butterfly, Short and Sweet, Pocket Shilouettes
Ink: Night of Navy, Bashful Blue, Brocade Blue
Paper: Whisper White, Bashful Blue
Accessories: Square Lattice Die, Beautiful Butterflies Embosslit die, Big Shot, 1-1/4" square punch

~Amanda
The baby wipe technique is really cool! Place a folded baby wipe onto a plastic plate. Then add a few drops of reinker in different colours onto the baby wipe and make sure to get the colours to touch so that when you use it as a ink pad it will ink up the whole image. You should clean the stamp each time so that they colours won't mix and make a muddy colour.

Supplies
Stamps: I {Heart} Hearts, Teeny Tiny Wishes, Sanded Background
Ink: Close to Cocoa, Reinkers: Cameo Coral, Rose Red, Close to Cocoa
Paper: Cameo Coral, Rose Red, Close to Cocoa, Whisper Whites
Accessories: Stampin' Dimensionals, baby wipe

This layout is really cool! It took a long time to get all the right elements chosen to make it look right. The base of each page started with a then retired In Color - River Rock (I created this page over 2 months ago!), but now is returning with the Colour Renovation starting in July 2010. River Rock is one of my fav colours and I'm so glad it's returning! Then using a decor stencil and sponge daubers with River Rock Ink I created my own personalized designer series paper.

Soft Suede, this year's In Color (it will be continuing on with the 2010-2011 Idea Book and Catalogue), created the scallop trim and the layout was finished off with some retired ribbon and a title. Elegant!

Supplies
Stamps: Pocket Silhouettes, Vintage Labels (SAB)
Ink: Soft Suede, River Rock
Paper: Soft Suede, River Rock, Very Vanilla
Accessories: Scallop trim punch, Scallop circle punch, retired Stampin' Up! ribbon originals, stampin' dimensionals, 1-1/4" punch, sticky strip, Kind Thoughts Brocade Decor Stencils, sponge dauber, Big Shot and Timeless Type Alphabet medium sizzlits dies

Thought it would be neat to share with you a few more cards from a technique class I held recently. You can see my original card for Mother's Day here. But the following cards were created by my mother and my aunt. It is absolutely amazing how they can change the colours, which happens quite a bit, to create their own unique card!

Supplies
Stamps: Teeny Tiny Wishes
Ink: Regal Rose, So Saffron, Basic Black
Paper: Basic Grey, Bride Speciality Designer Series Paper, So Saffron, Always Artichoke
Accessories: Fancy flower punch, 5 Petal punch, Word Window punch, sponge daubers, Fire jewel brads

Yesterday it felt really weird to be home right after work. Ever since September, Tuesday nights have be devoted to my Meadowbrook Brownie group in Kingston. Last week was our last meeting for the year and mine for the next while. I have been a Girl Guide leader working with Brownies for 11 years and have 21 years with Girl Guides of Canada. For now I am taking a break and anyone that knows me does not believe me that I am not going to be a guider in the fall!

Our contact guider for our unit is a wonderful lady. Such inspiration! I am so glad that when my husband and I moved back to Kingston 2 years ago that I was able to work with her. This card is the thank you card I made for her. Hopefully she likes it!! Enjoy!

Almost forgot! This is a case of this card: http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/photo/1337061?&si=OwlTogetherNow_Orange_by_dlounds Thanks for the inspiration.
Supplies
Stamps: Owl Together Now, Woodgrain background
Ink: More Mustard, Basic Black
Paper: Kraft, More Mustard
Accessories: Assorted Stampin' Write Markers, More Mustard brads, 1" circle punch, piercing tool and guide with mat

A very easy-peasy card and perfect for a make-n-take at a recent workshop. I really like this colour combination and will miss Pale Plum, Mellow Moss and Close to Cocoa when they retire at the end of June.

Supplies
Stamps: Thank you Kindly, Petal Pizzazz
Ink: Rich Razzelberry, Perfect Plum, Close to Cocoa, Mellow Moss
Paper: Soft Suede, Rich Razzelberry texture cardstock, Whisper White
Accessories: Designer hardware gromets, Soft Suede Polka Dot ribbon, large oval punch, stampin' dimensionals

The swirly foiled paper from the Bride Specialty Designer Series Paper can be sponged or brayered to create your own multi-coloured designer paper! I used 2 different inks (eventhough it's hard to tell with this picture), using Regal Rose to cover the whole piece and then went back with Rose Red around the edges.

The flower is made using the Fancy Flower punch to create 2 flowers. Then doing the faux suede technique, crumple the paper to break apart the fibers until you can pull the two layers apart to end up with 4 flowers that were layered together. We used the 5 petal punch to create the leaves and added a jewled brad to the centre. Viola!
Supplies
Stamps: All Holidays
Ink: Regal Rose, Rose Red
Paper: Basic Grey, Bride Speciality Designer Series Paper, Rose Red, Whisper White
Accessories: Fancy flower punch, 5 Petal punch, sponge daubers, Fire jewel brads

Owl for you!

May 12, 2010 in ,
Where did all the nice weather go off to? Last week was beautiful but then just as I'm about to go camping with my Brownie (Girl Guides) unit it threatens to snow! Strong winds and cold temps, oh and the occassional shower too! Thank goodness we were in the Brownie House, but it was still cold.

Anywho, this card will be one of my thank-you's to the other leaders I have worked with this year - we are all called owl names so this stamp from Fox and Friends works really well (mine is Autumn Owl). Next Tuesday will be my last meeting of the year! Where has it all gone to? Created the background paper using the Dot, Dot, Dot a la carte stamp from the Ocassional Mini, stamped with Versamark and then heat embossed with white embossing powder.

Supplies
Stamps: Fox and Friends, Dot Dot Dot, Teeny Tiny Wishes
Ink: Versamark, Close to Cocoa, Basic Black
Paper: Taken with Teal, Sweet Pea Designer Series Paper, Apricot Appeal, Certainly Celery, Whisper White, Close to Cocoa
Accessories: White embossing powder, embossing buddy, 1-3/4" circle punch, 1-3/8" circle punch, word window punch, stampin' dimensional, Pumpkin Pie marker, Big Shot, Little Leaves sizzlit die

Hello baby!

April 30, 2010 in ,
This card was one that we made at a stamp class last month. Wanted to get the Big Shot into action and use clear mount stamps as well. So the background was made using 3 stamps all on one clear block to make a cutomizable background stamp! The Close to Cocoa was embossed using the texturz plates and the tag is from the Tags Bigz die.
Supplies
Stamps: Fox and Friends, Teeny Tiny Wishes
Ink: Tempting Turquoise, Close to Cocoa, Certainly Celery
Paper: Certainly Celery, Close to Cocoa, Sweet Pea Designer Series Paper
Accessories: Clear block, Big Shot, texturz plates, scallop circle punch, Certainly Celery ribbon (retired)

Defintitely a wet year too in Manitoba (where my husband and I were living at the time). I snapped these photos right before we traveled to Ontario for my sister-in-law's wedding, so I guess these were really taken in May. But that doesn't really matter. These photos were to show our families the town we lived nearby. I really miss how flat it is!

The title was die cut with the Big Shot using the Timeless Type alphabet and then ran through the Big Shot again with the texturz plates (can you see the texture?). And of course can you tell what is missing yet again? Yup, my journal and titles for the photos! Someday my friends, someday!

Supplies
Stamps: Best Wishes and More
Ink: Garden Green
Paper: Sahara Sand, Whisper White, Close to Cocoa, Close to Cocoa texture paper
Accessories: Silver brads, Big Shot, texturz plates, Timeless type alphabet sizzlit

Medallion Brithday

April 22, 2010 in ,
A cloudy dull day here in Kingston, Ontario. But the sun is starting to peak out a bit. And it's been a slow and quiet day at work too! Can I have a nap now?

As a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator I receive a monthly magazine called Stampin' Success. It holds lots of project ideas, samples and information. And this month was a bonus! Because of the Color Renovation they included a single sheet of the new 5 colours: Cherry Cobbler, Marina Mist, Daffodil Delight, Early Espresso and Cajun Craze! And wow, they look better in person. Tonight will be the time to create some new colour schemes and compare these new colours with the others that will be sticking around. Would you like to get sneak peek items and be able to take advantage of preordering before the catalogue goes live? Then you should become a Demonstrator today!

Supplies
Stamps: Medallion, Sincere Salutations
Ink: Basic Black, Sahara Sand
Paper: Sahara Sand, Cruched Curry, Certaintly Celery, Very Vanilla
Accessories: Big Shot, Beautiful Wings embosslits die, Lots of Tags sizzlit die, stamin' dimensionals, brayer

2005 was a really wet year in Manitoba and was our first spring on the farm. I wanted the pictures to speak for themselves, but I see that I missed writing in a few tidbits. It is really important when you are scrapbooking to add some titles and journal. There are quite a few pages in my 2005 scrapbook that are in much need of some explanation for future generations when I am not here to elaborate!

Supplies
Stamps: Best Wishes and More
Ink: Not Quite Navy, Rich Razzelberry, textured Old Olive, Handsome Hunter
Paper: Handsome Hunter, Old Olive, Maine Blueberry Designer Series Paper (retired), Very Vanilla
Accessories: designer buttons (retired), Old Olive grosgrain ribbon, glue dots, sticky strip, 5/16" Jumbo brads, Filigree designer brads, metal edge tags, stampin' dimensionals, Round Tab punch, 1-3/8" circle punch

Stampin' Up! announced on Tuesday a new switch up of the color families. Some retired In Colors will be returning and 5 new colours have been added (Marina Mist, Cherry Cobbler, Daffodil Delight, Early Expresso and Cajun Craze). See the chart below to get a peak at the renovated collections:
I spent time on Friday arranging my ink pads into the new colour collections and making colour swatches too. Although I was very skeptical at first, seeing the new collections and colours together made me feel better! And of course my all time fav colour - River Rock is returning! Very excited that I will be able to get my hands on the new colours soon and show them off to you with new projects.

But don't forget about the retiring colours! You will want to stock up on your fav's before June 30, 2010. The following colours will no longer be avaliable with the new Idea Book and Catalogue on July 1, 2010:

The inspiration from this card came from a few cards that I saw using a different stamp set: Autumn Splendor from the Holiday Mini catalogue. Not quite the same effect because the other stamp set has more lines and less to colour in.
Supplies
Stamps: Fifth Avenue Floral, All Holidays
Ink: Versamark, Stampin Write markers: Barely Banana, Crushed Curry and Apricot Appeal
Paper: Barely Banana, Crushed Curry, Very Vanilla

New Product!

January 07, 2010
So many cool things to share with the release of the Occasions Mini and Sale-A-Bration catalogues on Tues January 5th! To receive either of these catalogues for your enjoyment and pleasure please email me or check for upcoming events.

Clear mount rubber stamps!
Over the past few years, there has been enormous demand from demonstrators and customers alike for a line of repositionable clear-mount stamps. Well, you asked for it, and now you have it! Starting with stamps in the 2010 Occasions Mini Catalogue and 2010 Sale-A-Bration brochure, Stampin' Up! now offers our exclusive stamp art in both traditional wood-mount, and the new clear-mount options.

- Nine different sizes of clear blocks available individually or as a discounted bundle.
- Blocks have ergonomic grooves on all four sides for easy grip and traditional wood-mount feel.
- Stamps and blocks are durable and easy to clean with your Stampin' Scrub and Stampin' Mist.
- Optional image labels on stamp backs let you decide if you want to see the image through the block or not.
- Tight die-cutting for easy image positioning.
- Large clear blocks can be used to create collages or spell words with alphabet sets.
- Stamps store easily in standard, DVD-type cases with artwork on front and spine, making organization easy.

New Punch Design!

A few features of the new punch style:
- Low-profile, rectangular punch body allows for easier stacking and storing
- Punches lock shut for easier storage and transport
- Dual labels on top and end allow for easy identification and selection when stored
- Available in three sizes: small, medium, and extra-large
- New punches allow for larger punched images and more intricate designs while providing greater ease of use.
- Extra -large punch images also allow for two-step designs like the Two-Step Bird punch in the Occasions Mini Catalogue
- Corner punches allow you to punch a corner design along the inside edges of a page, not just corners
- Larger, whole-hand handle design provides better leverage for easier use

Happy New Year!

January 03, 2010 in ,
Hello dear friends! Many might be wondering where I've been the past 2 months. I have been very busy. The sort of busy that goes along with packing, sorting and moving into a new house that requires paint, flooring, closet shelves (still working on that one!) oh and relocating my office - moved downstairs because my fav stamping desk would not fit into the doorway to the spare room. And then toss Christmas into the mix and stir! I am so glad it is January!

I've finally had some time to unpack my stamping supplies and work on a few cards the last few days. Just in time to get ready for new supplies! The Ocassions Mini Catalogue and Sale-A-Bration all start this Tuesday January 5th. Some of my preorder goodies are arriving early this week, so I will be playing with them and posting all the info Tuesday and Wednesday.

Coming up Saturday January 30th, 2010 I am hosting a Variety Stamp Camp at my new home in Amherstview, Ontario. Cost will be $20 for 15 cards. The cards will be geared towards Thank-yous and sympathy but the sentiment can be changed for birthday or other variety. I will post more details by the weekend over here.

Now onto my first card of 2010!
