Showing posts with label Techniques
July is World Watercolour Month and a great way to celebrate is to create a card using a watercolour technique, watercolour wash! Today's card shows how to create a watercolour card with Butterfly Brilliance Stamp Set. You can change up the colours depending on which designer series paper you use. I just had to chose purple as it's my favourite colour!
I love when there are pre-designed embellishments that can be popped out and glued to my project using Mini Glue Dots or my favourite adhesive, the Multipurpose Liquid Glue. The Abstract Beauty Suite includes a Ephemera Pack.

The Abstract Beauty Suite is great for new and experienced stampers. Especially since it includes a cards & envelopes pack that includes 10 pre-printed cards and 10 envelopes that have pretty designs on the inside of them. You could cut apart the envelopes and use the designs on your cards instead of sheets from the Abstract Beauty designer series paper.
Does this card make you think of Neapolitan Ice Cream? I can't have Neapolitan Ice Cream because one layer is strawberry and I'm allergic to strawberries! But that's ok, I love chocolate ice cream instead. What colours of ice cream would you make for the 3 scoops on this cone? You could even have sprinkles.
These scenes make me think back to when I was a teenager... Whew I wrote that out and wondered if I'm old enough to say "think back" or does that make me sound older than I am? lol But it reminds me when I would paint with my watercolours to create landscape scenes. I haven't made a watercolour painting in a long time. So when I spied the New Horizon designer series paper I knew it was being added to my collection. Now that I have it I almost don't want to use it! It's so pretty!
What do you think of the bright pink and mango with the softer blues and greens on this card? It makes me think of a stormy day then the sun pops out from behind the thundering clouds, creating a beautiful rainbow overhead. The blue clouds aren't stamped but found in the Sunshine & Rainbows designer series paper. And you can punch the clouds out using the Cloud Punch.
Have you used designer series paper instead of stamping for the focal point of your card or project? Stampin' Up!'s Whimsy & Wonder 12" x 12" specialty designer series paper has some beautiful images you can cut out using your Paper Snips and some of the designs might fit in the Christmas Tree Dies. The presents are from one of the designs in this pack and have silver accents mostly on the ribbon. Added to the card was a piece of white Baker's Twine and a few Polished Pink jewels to highlight the ivy. For this card the 'tis the season is stamped (found in the Christmas to Remember stamp set) but you can choose any sentiment you have on hand, either stamped or cut from a sheet of DSP if you have a pack with words.
Have you ever received an interactive card for your birthday? Stampin' Up!'s Sheep stamp set and dies make this card  Turning the wheel to get the sheep to "jump" over the fence will bring a smile to your face. I shared how to create this card at this month's team meeting on Zoom.

When I think of polar bears and the Arctic, I picture ice burgs and impressive skies. The Water Painters and the Fluid 100 Watercolour paper were used with Misty Moonlight and Pool Party ink refills to create the sky and water. Working with the Water Painters can be a little intimidating at first. Using them with the Fluid 100 Watercolour paper will help you because it can handle the water better than either Basic White cardstock or the Thick Basic White cardstock.

Welcome to July's Pretty Cards & Paper blog hop. The You're A Peach designer series paper is the focus of our projects this month. And bonus - it's on sale until August 2 for 15% off.
Do you like the colours in this pack of DSP? They are Balmy Blue, Bumblebee, Calypso Coral, Early Espresso, Mango Melody, Pale Papaya, Pear Pizzazz & Petal Pink. It's neat how the colours are used to colour in the peach - Bumblebee, Calypso Coral, Petal Pink and Mango Melody. The flowers on my card were coloured in using some of these colours with the Stampin' Blends.

Canadian Stampin' Up! demonstrators gathered together a few weeks ago on Facebook. It was fun! We were given a mystery stamping challenge and this is the card I made using the pieces we were told to gather. My favourite part of this challenge was the designer series paper strip. Can you believe that all the DSP is from one strip measuring 2" x 12"? Even the brick design is from the same sheet. To create each of the layers cut from the strip of DSP on the long side, cut at 3", 4" and 5". The Evening Evergreen cardstock layers behind each pieces of DSP are 2.25" x 3.25", 2.25" x 4.25" & 2.25" x 5.25". Before gluing the pieces together layer them on your card front and arrange the layers in the design you like or copy what I've done with my card.

New products alert! The 2021-2022 Annual Catalogue is gorgeous and filled with some lovely items. I look forward to sharing with you what we can create using these awesome products. One of the items I'm excited to share are the new In Colors and my card today shows 3 of these colours together.
To create this card stamp the main line image floral image using black ink. Next you'll need to stamp the flowers using Pale Papaya ink onto Pale Papaya cardstock. After stamping the flowers use the Flowers & Leaves punch to punch them then cut out those flowers up a into 4 pieces using Paper Snips. Glue the petals over the floral line image your stamped earlier. Repeat this process with the leaves using the Evening Evergreen In Color to create this eye catching design. Need to see how I did it? Watch me create this card over on Instagram! While you are there make sure to follow me to keep up to date with new Reels.
When you purchase the Flowers of Friendship stamp set and the Flowers & Leaves punch together as a bundle you save 10%. Punching stamped leaves and flowers is easy with a coordinating punch!

The Sweet Valentine's Cards & More pack is adorable and fun to use to create loving cards to hand out for not just Valentine's Day! Weddings, anniversaries and even birthdays or just because. The picture above shows you what is included in the pack. You'll receive enough supplies to create 10 small cards.
An alternative to creating the 4.25" x 3.25" cards that this pack creates you can add some additional cardstock to make full sized 4.25" x 5.5" cards.
For these cards I've cut up a few of the envelopes and the card bases. The scallop die cut cards are so sweet and perfect for adding sentiments. The Well Written dies were used on these cards but these dies are retiring next week. You could add a stamped sentiment or another die cut sentiment if you wished.

This week I'm sharing projects using some of our beautiful blues. This card features Night of Navy from the Neutrals Collection along with Coastal Cabana from the Brights Collection. Both of these colours were pulled from the list of colours in the Playing With Patterns designer series paper. Basic Gray from the Neutrals Collection was used for the card base.

Have you tried Stampin' Up!'s Water Painters? When you purchase the Water Painters you receive 3 different sized brushes in the package - a small brush, a medium brush and a large fan brush. The body of the painters is filled water before using them to watercolour.

Watch me create this watercolour card in a video that was recorded in September 2020 during one of my Facebook lives:
