This layout is really cool! It took a long time to get all the right elements chosen to make it look right. The base of each page started with a then retired In Color - River Rock (I created this page over 2 months ago!), but now is returning with the Colour Renovation starting in July 2010. River Rock is one of my fav colours and I'm so glad it's returning! Then using a decor stencil and sponge daubers with River Rock Ink I created my own personalized designer series paper.

Soft Suede, this year's In Color (it will be continuing on with the 2010-2011 Idea Book and Catalogue), created the scallop trim and the layout was finished off with some retired ribbon and a title. Elegant!

Thought it would be neat to share with you a few more cards from a technique class I held recently. You can see my original card for Mother's Day here. But the following cards were created by my mother and my aunt. It is absolutely amazing how they can change the colours, which happens quite a bit, to create their own unique card!

Ink: Regal Rose, So Saffron, Basic Black
Paper: Basic Grey, Bride Speciality Designer Series Paper, So Saffron, Always Artichoke

Yesterday it felt really weird to be home right after work. Ever since September, Tuesday nights have be devoted to my Meadowbrook Brownie group in Kingston. Last week was our last meeting for the year and mine for the next while. I have been a Girl Guide leader working with Brownies for 11 years and have 21 years with Girl Guides of Canada. For now I am taking a break and anyone that knows me does not believe me that I am not going to be a guider in the fall!

Our contact guider for our unit is a wonderful lady. Such inspiration! I am so glad that when my husband and I moved back to Kingston 2 years ago that I was able to work with her. This card is the thank you card I made for her. Hopefully she likes it!! Enjoy!

Almost forgot! This is a case of this card: http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/photo/1337061?&si=OwlTogetherNow_Orange_by_dlounds Thanks for the inspiration.

The swirly foiled paper from the Bride Specialty Designer Series Paper can be sponged or brayered to create your own multi-coloured designer paper! I used 2 different inks (eventhough it's hard to tell with this picture), using Regal Rose to cover the whole piece and then went back with Rose Red around the edges.

The flower is made using the Fancy Flower punch to create 2 flowers. Then doing the faux suede technique, crumple the paper to break apart the fibers until you can pull the two layers apart to end up with 4 flowers that were layered together. We used the 5 petal punch to create the leaves and added a jewled brad to the centre. Viola!

Owl for you!

May 12, 2010 in ,
Where did all the nice weather go off to? Last week was beautiful but then just as I'm about to go camping with my Brownie (Girl Guides) unit it threatens to snow! Strong winds and cold temps, oh and the occassional shower too! Thank goodness we were in the Brownie House, but it was still cold.

Anywho, this card will be one of my thank-you's to the other leaders I have worked with this year - we are all called owl names so this stamp from Fox and Friends works really well (mine is Autumn Owl). Next Tuesday will be my last meeting of the year! Where has it all gone to? Created the background paper using the Dot, Dot, Dot a la carte stamp from the Ocassional Mini, stamped with Versamark and then heat embossed with white embossing powder.

Supplies
Stamps: Fox and Friends, Dot Dot Dot, Teeny Tiny Wishes
Ink: Versamark, Close to Cocoa, Basic Black
Paper: Taken with Teal, Sweet Pea Designer Series Paper, Apricot Appeal, Certainly Celery, Whisper White, Close to Cocoa
Accessories: White embossing powder, embossing buddy, 1-3/4" circle punch, 1-3/8" circle punch, word window punch, stampin' dimensional, Pumpkin Pie marker, Big Shot, Little Leaves sizzlit die
